Wendy
When I was 22, I spent a month in Taiwan visiting family I hadn't seen in 15 years and gorging on all the delicacies from my childhood. My cousin Wendy was just a little kid, but even then, she was outgoing and fun and spoke excellent English. Wendy, now 23, came to stay with us in Seattle for most of September. Joseph and I took her on the toddler-tour of Seattle -- just moms and tots in all the places we visited. Wendy (Joseph's 表姨) joked she was re-living her childhood!
表姨 was so good with Joseph and he warmed up to her right away. Muah!
Apple-picking is a fall ritual in central New York, but this was our first time in the Northwest. We found a farm with ripe Honeycrisps -- and lots of trees low enough for the little people to reach.
Another mom kindly gave us her extra tokens for the carousel at the zoo, so Joseph got to go for a spin.
Super excited and shocked to find a Taiwanese flag outside the Museum of Flight.
Riding the Great Wheel.
And view of the Great Wheel from the Bainbridge ferry.
It was windy!
After dropping 表姨 at the airport, Joseph asked, "我們下次要不要去台灣找表姨?" (Should we go to Taiwan next time to find 表姨?) Awww. Sure, when you're old enough to sit for a 12-hour flight and understand a 15-hour time difference. Otherwise it'd just be torturing Mama.
