Happy birthday to my little boy!
Per Joseph's request, homemade apple cake with dinosaur candles. I kind of messed up the recipe, but Joseph still loved it. Three is forgiving, especially if there is sugar and butter involved.

Everyone sang "Happy Birthday" at preschool. Joseph's expression is neutral here, but trust me, he was super excited.

We threw a birthday party with some of Joseph's buddies. Not the greatest picture, but you get the point: our house was filled with little people. The first two birthdays pretty low-key (
here and
here), but now Joseph is bigger and he actually understands
birthday. We've been going to a bunch of birthdays, and I wanted Joseph to have that experience too. Cake! Balloons! Party!

Birthday cake for the party. I was winging a new recipe, and didn't have quite enough cake batter, so I overcompensated with the frosting. Oops. All worth the effort when Joseph saw it and smiled, "Rabbit cake!"
