Oyster month at Alderbrook April 19, 2024 We were thoroughly spoiled by a stay at Alderbrook. April is Oyster Month, and Alderbrook has its own oyster farm and the executive chef is an oyster farmer. We learned so much about oysters and ATE so many oysters. Here's a link to my story for Seattle's Child. Yum yum. We tried baked, fried and raw oysters. The clear winner: Raw. A shellfish farmer gathers oysters and clams from the beach to bring up to the restaurant. Exploring low tide in front of the resort. 100+ year old resort on the Hood Canal. So beautiful. After looking at oysters and clams on the beach, we had oysters and clams for dinner. Fluted edges on these beach oysters. This is what the beach in front of Alderbrook looks like at low tide. Twanoh State Park, 10 minutes away, is the closest public beach where you can harvest oysters. The beach by the boat ramp is COVERED with oysters. Hello, free food! Hama Hama is a 6th-generation family farm. Open air seating at Hama Hama's Oyster Saloon, 30 minutes up the road from Alderbrook. We loved this place. The giant mountain of oyster shells at Hama Hama.
