The kids have been learning about Indigenous people in school, so I took them to pay respects at the final resting place of our city’s namesake, Chief Seattle. I feel like the story of the Suquamish Tribe is one we should all know because we live in Seattle. The grave is on the Port Madison Native Reservation, about 15 minutes from the Bainbridge ferry terminal. Story here.
Across the street from the cemetery, we were surprised to see a gorgeous, brand-new playground and couldn't resist checking it out.
