MIT and Harvard campus tours
College visits with a tiger mom: MIT and Harvard! Our favorite MIT grad took us on a tour tailored to our specific interests (iconic photo ops, art and architecture for me; fun games and food for the boys).
The Alchemist statue is made of numbers and letters!
The famous view of the MIT dome. The lobby inside was super pretty too.
.
I saw this incredible light in front of this building we were passing and we had to stop for a some pictures. Because mom is a photographer like that.
.
The Big Sail (La Grade Voile), an Alexander Calder original! It is 40 feet high. Behind the sculpture is the tallest building in Cambridge. Yummy Mexican food truck parked nearby too.
You can tell this is a popular photo op spot from the two smudges on the wall next to the MIT seal.
Joseph and Paul LOVED this Magic 8 ball maze in the lobby of the Dr. Seuss building (Gates building). We stopped for some Area 4 pizza (Obama had some when he was president) and the boys went right back to this ball maze. Paul is clutching the MIT teddy bear, a gift from Shiao JoeJoe.
Taking the T two stops to Harvard.
Harvard's Natural History Museum, free with ASTC. We ran in for the last 30 minutes before closing. There's a room of incredible botanically correct glass flowers, and an impressive collection of taxidermied animals.
Popular photo op spot with a statue of Harvard's founder. His toe is all shiny from people rubbing it for good luck, but we skipped that (students may or may not pee on his foot??).

Swag from the Coop.
MIT's campus is riddled with bunnies, and Harvard's has... wild turkeys!
