North Olympic National Park

Most people go on trips to have adventures. If I'm being completely honest with myself, I go on trips to take pictures of adventures. It's nice to get out of our usual grind and see some different things with fresh eyes. I wrote about our trip to the north Olympic National Park (Sequim, Lake Crescent and Hurricane Ridge) for ParentMap here. And now, a zillion pictures:

You can buy bread to feed the animals at the Olympic Game Farm in Sequim. It was the highlight of the kids' day, but you had to feel bad for some of those animals.
Alarming sight: a 2000-lb bison converging on your vehicle.
We saw people in this car reaching out and feeding the bison out of their hands.
Bald eagles hanging out.
Paul loved the llamas best. They were the perfect height to reach our car.
Joseph feeding the deer.
The Dungeness Spit is a long sandy bar with a lighthouse at the end. We only hit the beginning of the trailhead (it was 11 miles out and back).
Beautiful Victoria, B.C., across the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The kids LIVE for the hotel pool. BYO pool noodles.
I felt a Sound of Music moment when we drove up to Hurricane Ridge. Be warned the snow was incredibly blinding.
I packed sleds, but didn't use them. Too scary when you can't see the bottom of the hill. It's a loooong way down.
A few of Mount Baker and Sequim, from a lookout on Hurricane Ridge.
We also explored the Lake Crescent area. Old growth forest on the hike to Marymere Falls.
On our way home, we stopped on Bainbridge Island to extend that vacation vibe. Owen's Playground is a mile outside downtown Winslow, so outside our walking radius, so we'd never been before.
Can't do Bainbridge without the famous Mora's. I wish they would bring back samples.
Burgerhaus takeout to eat in the ferry line. These burgers were soooo good, and only $7 each.
Olympic Mountains behind us, sailing home to Seattle.
