Learn science and math by playing outside

Ideas for learning outside! I personally tested all of them and I promise you, none of them require tons of prep work (who has time for that?). Our favorite is the math target game — my kids absolutely LOVE it and we've made going on "math walks" a regular thing. My story is in The Seattle Times here.

I totally thought I was going to get stung for this story. (I didn't, phew.) Found a nice Apis melliferato study up close.

Also for story research, we hit low tide at Golden Gardens with volunteer naturalists from the Seattle Aquarium. It was so cool! I can't believe it's the first time I've ever been in all my years in Seattle. We've been to Golden Gardens a zillion times, just never at a super low tide. It was like walking around inside a touch tank.

Aggregating anenomes that look just like mochi doughnuts. Or dried persimmons. These guys can clone themselves!
