In Boston, we hit the usual suspects: the science museum, the children's museum and the aquarium. Because, travel with kids. Of these attractions, my favorite was actually the (free) playground we found outside the children's museum. The thing was amazing! Slides built into the hillside, climbing logs and an entire play ship. Joseph and Paul loved activating the spray park with a push button. Snack at the science center with a view of the Charles. I accidentally made Joseph and Paul walk 2.3 miles to the science center (I sold it as a stroll along the Charles) and 1.5 hours later when we arrived the kids were ready to pass out. We didn't go for the special ex because there was plenty to see in the sprawling wings of the museum. Loved this interactive screen that makes patterns out of your fingerprint. . The children's museum is definitely geared toward younger kids, like the 5 and under set. Joseph found stuff to entertain himself though. He's climbing the bridge in the background while Paul plays with construction trucks. One of the themed rooms is a pretend kindergarten classroom, where the boys were delighted to find the coconut tree from their favorite book. . . . The New England Aquarium was really crowded, even though we were there on a weekday. It just felt dark and claustrophobic to me. Honestly, I like the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium a lot better -- there's just more space. We did like the rays in touch tank and this giant tropical fish aquarium. There was even a exhibit about the Pacific Northwest waters, featuring a giant Pacific octopus. Felt like home!
