Tour of the East suburbs

I forget how quickly F-M gets rural. A couple miles out on Sweet Road and the suburbs turn into one stop-light towns, rolling fields of green. We had an unscheduled day so I took the boys on a trip through the East suburbs: Pompey, Cazenovia and Chittenango.   Downtown Cazenovia is so pretty! We stopped by the Cazenovia library to see the slightly creepy souvenirs some old guy brought back from Egypt in 1894, back when you could buy things like mummies. And because I force my kids to look at art every once in a while, we stopped at Stone Quarry Hill Art Park. I did a service learning project there for my freshman writing class in college. The place is a real hidden gem. . . . Downtown Chittenango isn't as affluent as Cazenovia. We stopped specifically to see that yellow brick road (which is really dyed stamped concrete) honoring hometown hero L. Frank Baum. . I was so proud of myself, I took the boys on a nature hike by myself. Let's not get too crazy; it was 0.6 mile from the parking lot to this view of Pratt's Falls.
